Kimetsu no Yaiba: A Demon Slayer Review

So, folks know that I try my best to keep up with the latest and greatest shows within the world of anime. Today, I just had to share some brief thoughts I had towards one anime that has captured my full attention and appears weekly on my television.

Demon Slayer, also known as Kimetsu no Yaiba, is created by Koyoharu Gotōge and follows the story of Tanjirou Yamado, a young village boy, and his quest to find the answer of transforming his younger sister, Nezuko, back into the precious, human girl he once knew. Oh, wondering why she isn't a human girl? That's because this world is filled to the brim with MOTHER-LOVIN' DEMONS. That's right kids, don't go out past your bedtime because you may just become a demon's midnight snack as Tanjirou's family did in Episode One.

Without giving away too much, Tanjirou realizes that he cannot defeat demons and find the answers he needs unless he gets stronger and learns more about the world outside of his small village. Thus, begins our journey along Tanjirou as he seeks out the Demon Slayers, an organization created specifically to destroy demons, and the demon who transformed Nezuko.

Y'all, this is one of the most beautiful shows that I've ever watched on Crunchyroll. With it's blend of rough, thick lines and stunning brushstroke fighting styles that beautifully compare to that of The Great Wave off Kanagawa, it's easy to see how one could get pulled into the world of Demon Slayer. When I began watching Demon Slayer I felt myself pulled back to the days of staying up much later than my parents intended, watching shows like Inyuyasha and Rurouni Kenshin. Every episode has been filled to the brim with thrilling action sequences, comedy that anyone could chuckle at, and a touching story of this brother-sister duo trying to make their way in a world determined to pull them apart.

If you haven't already begun watching it, I would recommend checking it out on Crunchyroll or any other anime streaming service that you prefer. With a 26-episode line-up and only a handful released so far, I am beyond excited to see where the rest of the anime leads up and what Tanjirou and Nezuko's lives have in store for viewers across the globe.
